Development Engineer The PSI Institute is the largest research institute for natural sciences and engineering in Switzerland. For the Sample Environment group in the Laboratory for Neutron and Muon Instrumentation, we are looking for a Development Engineer Your tasks Are you looking for the daily challenge of contributing your technical know-how in a creative, dynamic, international working environment? As a member of the Sample Environment group, you will take care of the development and implementation of the software for controlling complex experimental apparatus using the Frappy framework and using the «Sample Environment Communication Protocol» (SECoP) at the SINQ neutron scattering source. You enjoy the design, development and construction of experimental apparatus and electronic components and find it a positive challenge to implement modifications and repairs under time pressure. Participation in technical and scientific projects and interaction with international project partners excites you. Your profile You are an Electrical Engineer FH or have an equivalent or higher degree. You like to work precisely and cleanly and are motivated to contribute to an international team. You have technical skill and experience in the field of measurement and control technology, low-level programming, programming in as well as electronics. You can read and create electrical schematics. You do not shy away from performing even simple tasks, such as simple soldering tasks, or creating series of measurements. Experience in the field of cryo- and vacuum technology as well as handling CAD software is an advantage, as is experience in the administration of Linux systems. You are willing to delve into new specialized areas and are open to facing new tasks in a dynamic field of activity. You are proficient in English in writing and speaking.
