What you can contribute

• Conduct opposition proceedings regarding visas
• Process applications for entry and residence authorizations for training (students) --
• Process applications for the extension of a residence authorization after the dissolution of a marital union
• Examine and process applications for the regularization of the residence conditions of undocumented migrants and persons whose situation falls under an individual case of extreme gravity
• Correspond and collaborate with cantonal migration authorities and Swiss representations abroad

What makes you unique

• University degree, preferably in law
• Interest in migration-related issues
• Writing skills and precision, rigor and ability to synthesize
• Ability to work independently and organized including when the workload is heavy
• Good knowledge of a second official language and English

In a few words

This internship offers you the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the various procedures handled by an administrative unit of the SEM performing operational activity in the field of admission and residence of foreigners.

Migration concerns us

The State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) handles all matters relating to foreign law, asylum law and nationality. The Admission Residence Division is notably responsible for examining applications for entry into Switzerland by foreign nationals (visas) and possible measures for removal from Swiss territory (deportations, entry bans). It also issues decisions regarding approval for the granting or extension of residence authorizations (with or without gainful employment), provides advice to cantonal authorities on migration matters and ensures the application of federal legislation in this matter.
