Your contribution

• Provide support to the Army Command in managing long-term development and monitoring the military situation
• Develop strategic and decision-making bases for the further development of the Defense Groupment, particularly in the area of business development and strategic transformation
• Analyze data and results collected from strategy controlling and risk management and derive relevant recommendations for action
• Coordinate and direct interdisciplinary working groups together with experts and stakeholders at the office level
• Provide support and advice to office directors and section heads in the development, coordination, and implementation of partial and specialist strategies

What distinguishes you

• University degree or degree from a university of applied sciences or equivalent training
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills as well as the ability to think in an interdisciplinary and strategic manner
• Experience working in a strategic field throughout the entire strategy cycle, from analysis and planning to orientation, implementation, and controlling
• Ability to effectively handle complex stakeholder landscapes with partially divergent interests
• Knowledge of the internal processes and structures of the Confederation or training as a staff officer or general staff officer constitutes an advantage
• Excellent active knowledge of at least one second official language (B2) and English knowledge of at least level B2

In summary

The Defense Strategy and Governance team establishes the long-term orientation of the Defense Groupment to strengthen Switzerland's defense capability. We develop the strategic decision-making bases for the Army Command and support it in managing the development of the entire Groupment. We are committed not only to developing the strategy but also to achieving effects on the organization, establishing clear priorities as well as coherent governance and implementation.

The Army Staff (SM Es) provides support to the Chief of the Army in the conduct of the Defense Groupment and is responsible for the global military planning of the army and its relative development. Based on political directives, it develops the strategic bases, the development of the armed forces, as well as the planning of the armed forces and armaments, and assumes tasks in the context of international security. Also within its sphere of competence are the conduct, management, and coordination of all cross-sectional sectors (Personnel, Finance, Real Estate).

The Swiss Army employs over 9000 collaborators within the framework of four military professions and approximately 200 civil professions, in 110 locations throughout the national territory. Furthermore, it provides for new recruits, training apprentices in over 30 professions.
