The Veterinary Service within the Office for Agriculture is responsible for the enforcement of animal welfare, animal disease, and veterinary medicinal product legislation, as well as food legislation in the area of animal husbandry and slaughter in the Canton Solothurn. For the food safety area, we are looking for an official specialist assistant meat, 80-100% at the Oensingen location, as of or by arrangement.

Your responsibility

• Together with other official specialist assistants, you carry out the meat inspection on the slaughter line of the largest and most modern cattle slaughterhouse in Switzerland.
• Your area of responsibility also includes further tasks such as hygiene controls, sampling, slaughter animal and meat inspection in small businesses, etc.

Your profile

• You have completed vocational training in the food sector, preferably as a butcher (Metzger/-in bzw. Fleischfachmann/-frau), and ideally possess the certificate of proficiency as an official specialist assistant or are willing to acquire it.
• High resilience, flexibility, and teamwork are among your strengths, and you communicate in a friendly and clear manner towards customers.
• Manual dexterity and good physical fitness are basic requirements for this activity.
