Together with your Co-Head of Department, you will lead the Asylum and Refugees department of the Canton of Bern. In this proven co-leadership model, you will take responsibility for a clearly defined area of tasks and leadership with your own team. You will actively shape the strategic further development of the asylum and refugee sector and operate at the exciting interface of politics, administration, and regional partners

Your tasks

• Functional and personnel leadership of a department with its own team in the co-leadership model
• Strategic management of service delivery and further development of contract management
• Management of projects for the further development of the asylum and refugee sector
• Preparation of decision-making bases, reports, and political matters
• Representation of the department towards the Confederation, municipalities, and other stakeholders

Your profile

• University degree (Uni/FH) in economics or social sciences or a comparable qualification
• Several years of leadership experience in a comparable function
• Experience in public administration as well as in the field of migration or integration
• Experience in the management of demanding projects
• Business fluent German as well as good French skills

About us

The Office for Integration and Social Affairs designs and manages services that the Canton of Bern co-finances in the social and integration sector. In addition to fundamental work, it also deals with complex individual questions. On the basis of the Office's work, higher-level authorities make wayfinding and political decisions.

The Office for Integration and Social Affairs holds the strategic responsibility for the Asylum and Refugees sector in the Canton of Bern. To implement this task, the department works closely with six external regional partners. In the Canton of Bern, five regional partners bear the overall operational responsibility for the assigned persons in their region. For unaccompanied minors, one partner is responsible for the entire cantonal territory. The regional partners are commissioned and supervised by the Asylum and Refugees department.
