The Heilsarmee Schweiz is a church and social non-profit organization and offers uncomplicated support to people in challenging life situations. On behalf of the city of Bern, it offers places in collective accommodations for people from the asylum and refugee sector. The Kollektivunterkunft (KU) Tiefenau in Bern has 492 places and could be expanded to a capacity of 750 places.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a committed personality as an Employee Facility Management.

Your tasks

• Accompanying residents during arrivals and departures, room changes, as well as with everyday concerns
• Organization, instruction and control of cleaning work in the workfare system as well as conducting room inspections
• Issuing and managing initial equipment, consumables and cleaning materials
• Carrying out cleaning, hygiene and disinfection work as well as maintenance and care of equipment and infrastructure
• Management of the facility management warehouse and organization of waste disposal
• Coordination and accompaniment of the Swiss Tafel offer
• Participation in compliance with safety, hygiene and order regulations
• Support of the reception and administration team in 24/7 operation
• Cooperation with internal and external bodies as well as support of the team leader with organizational and operational tasks

What you bring with you

• Completed school and vocational training
• Professional experience, preferably in the social sector
• Knowledge in the social sector or in the asylum system is an advantage
• Transcultural competence
• Good oral and written German skills; English, French and other language skills are an advantage
• Basic knowledge of MS Office and in handling databases
• Quick comprehension as well as networked and flexible thinking
• Independent and reliable way of working
• Enjoyment of practical, organizational and physical activities
• Professional and target-group-oriented interaction with different people
• Ability to act calmly and solution-oriented even in challenging situations
• Teamwork skills and willingness to provide mutual support
• Willingness to work in shift operation
• Fundamentally a clean criminal record and special private extract
