Winterthur / Smart Working We are rebuilding the processing of motor vehicle claims from the ground up: instead of digitizing existing processes, we are designing a new solution with AI at its center. This is productive pioneering work - the system is intended to be the future of our claims handling. To this end, we are building a new, powerful team which is part of Claims Analytics within the Competence Center Data & AI of AXA Schweiz. As one of the first Data Scientists, you will help shape the project from the very beginning. Your contribution • You share responsibility for the new Agentic-AI system, from problem analysis through modeling to productive operation • You select and implement the right methodological approaches for complex analytical questions along the entire claims process and ensure high-quality outputs • You analyze existing claims data, tap into new data sources, recognize patterns, train robust models, and build scalable AI applications in the cloud (GCP) • As Lead Data Scientist, you are a sparring partner, impulse provider, and the methodological conscience of the team, always with an open ear for ideas and the courage to question assumptions • You do not move along familiar paths, but rather participate in the construction of a fundamentally new claims processing system Your skills and talents • Data Science: You master the entire journey from the business problem to the productive solution: feature and context engineering, modeling, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring. You know which method is the right one and why. Your experience with Agentic AI, Context Engineering, or Knowledge Management will facilitate your entry with us - competence in classic ML is a prerequisite. • Tech Stack: Python and its libraries (e.g., LangChain) are your everyday business. Experience with GCP (especially Vertex AI & Cloud Run), MLOps, CI/CD, or container technologies is an advantage. • Way of working: You work proactively, independently, and can tolerate ambiguity. The path will not be prescribed to you - you find it by taking action, testing hypotheses, and correcting them. Mistakes are not a problem as long as you learn from them and adjust the course. • Data Science Lead: You set the methodological direction, provide impulses, and make decisions. At the same time, you roll up your sleeves yourself and leave room for ideas from the team, because you know: methodological leadership does not mean having all the answers, but finding the best one together. • Domain knowledge: Experience in insurance (specifically in claims handling) is a plus.
