The Regionalgefängnis Burgdorf is the most modern prison in the Canton of Bern and stands for a safe, structured, and responsible execution of various types of detention. With around 160 inmates and 60 employees, we ensure orderly operations and high security standards daily. We are guided by the motto: "Security today and tomorrow. As a result of an internal change, we are looking for an Employee Supervision & Care (100%), provisionally fixed-term until 31 December 2027, as of 1 November 2026 or by arrangement.

Your tasks

• You supervise, accompany, and monitor the admitted persons during the entire duration of detention.
• As a contact and reference person, you maintain respectful, professional contact as well as the appropriate balance of closeness and distance.
• You act without prejudice, consistently, and responsibly. In doing so, you reliably implement applicable regulations and instructions and contribute to a safe, orderly daily life in detention.
• You bring a service-oriented way of working and make an important contribution to the protection of the public, the employees, and the admitted persons in 24/7 shift operations.

Your profile

• You have completed vocational training EFZ as well as several years of professional experience.
• You bring a respectful, non-prejudiced, professional manner with people of different cultures. Even in challenging situations, you act confidently as well as with the right balance of closeness and distance.
• You are a team player, responsible, resilient, and solution-oriented in dealing with criticism and conflicts.
• You are characterized by IT affinity and administrative competence.
• You have German as a native language as well as good understanding in another national language or English. Further language skills are an advantage.
• An impeccable criminal record extract is required.

About the Amt für Justizvollzug

The Amt für Justizvollzug (AJV) is responsible for the open and closed execution of sentences and measures for adults and youths within the Sicherheitsdirektion of the Canton of Bern (SID) with around 1000 employees. To fulfill this task, the office has at its disposal four concordat correctional institutions, four Regionalgefängnisse, the Bewachungsstation at the Inselspital, the Haftleitstelle, as well as the Bewährungs- und Vollzugsdienste.
