Job Description ## Reporting to the Direction of Veterinary Affairs and Inspectorate, the Institut Galli-Valerio (IGV) plays a central role in the fight against epizootics as well as in the epidemiological surveillance of animal diseases. Its main missions include the diagnosis of animal diseases subject to mandatory reporting, the performance of analyses related to food safety, as well as diagnostic activities concerning other non-epizootic animal conditions. As an official laboratory, it collaborates closely with cantonal and federal authorities, as well as with veterinary professionals, to ensure rigorous and reactive sanitary monitoring in the face of emerging challenges. By joining the Institut Galli-Valerio, the laboratory manager will join a team committed to an essential public service approach, where scientific rigor meets collective utility. He·she will actively contribute to the smooth functioning of this structure by supervising the technical and logistical activities that support our surveillance and prevention missions. Responsibilities ## • Define and deploy the operational strategy of the laboratory in alignment with the Direction, while steering performance through the analysis of indicators, the development of internal synergies, the management of external partnerships, and the continuous proposal of improvement areas. • Ensure medical validation and the performance of anatomopathological and forensic analyses, while advising clients and authorities, ensuring the scientific and regulatory evolution of methods, and supervising the pricing of services. • Lead the quality management system (ISO 17025) and methodological innovation by guaranteeing normative compliance, mastery of IT tools, resolution of non-conformities, and continuous performance improvement via indicator monitoring and training. • Lead the operational and budgetary management of the laboratory by optimizing flows, equipment, and stocks, while supervising teams, skill development, and strict compliance with biosafety standards. Qualifications ## • Veterinary doctor degree with a Doctorate in veterinary medicine • Title of specialist veterinarian FVH in a field of laboratory veterinary medicine or equivalent • Certificate of capacity of official veterinarian or a firm commitment to undergo training and obtain the title during employment • 4 years of professional practice in a veterinary analysis laboratory • Specialization in one or more fields of laboratory veterinary medicine, notably anatomopathology, histology, bacteriology, parasitology, serology, or molecular biology for 3 years • Oral mastery of German and English • Ability to unite, to delegate with control, and to manage conflicts with diplomacy, while maintaining strong cohesion within the laboratory • Ability to adopt a global vision, to synthesize complex information, and to take determined decisions to direct activity towards excellence • Excellent management of time and priorities in a dynamic environment, coupled with great self-control and effective stress management • Keen sense of customer service and collaboration with external partners WHO ARE WE? ## The Direction générale de l'agriculture, de la viticulture et des affaires vétérinaires (DGAV) is one of the entities of the Département de l'agriculture, de la durabilité et du climat et du numérique (DADN).
