Head of the Public Works and Water Department General Activities Technical, administrative, and financial management and coordination of the department's activities Planning of infrastructure maintenance Participation in the development of the department's financial planning (investment) and ensuring its proper implementation Preparation and monitoring of projects Administrative management (correspondence, reports, public procurement, quotes, budget preparation, closing of accounts, management of stocks and material) Personnel management of public works and water (monitoring of hours, planning of holidays and on-call service, annual interviews, training monitoring) Representation of the department to cantonal and municipal services, authorities, the population, and external service providers Management and organization of team work Management of vehicle fleet maintenance and its renewal Monitoring the application of safety standards and regulations Support to political bodies Public Works Organization and supervision of the maintenance of municipal roads, sidewalks, public squares, green spaces, cemeteries, fountains, and ancillary infrastructure Management of road signage and user safety Planning of maintenance and repair work Supervision of the organization of events (notably Abbaye de Fleurier) Coordination of snow removal actions within the department and with external service providers Water and Sanitation Supervise the water and water sanitation service to guarantee water quality according to standards and ensure the proper functioning of the installations Organization of preventive and curative maintenance of networks and structures Participate in the implementation and monitoring of self-monitoring Participation in investment planning (PGEE and PGA) and network extensions Ensuring the proper functioning of the wastewater network and its treatment Management of STEPS, pumping stations, and the underground network Management of PGEE and PGA construction sites and management of underground network maintenance Requirements HES civil engineer degree or equivalent training Training in management 4 to 7 years of prior professional experience in a similar function Knowledge of the functioning of a municipal administration Good mastery of road maintenance methods and standards Ability to develop, read, and interpret plans Skills in construction site management and budget monitoring Fluent use of office tools and ideally technical management software Driver's license Sense of organization, responsibility, and priorities Versatility Spirit of initiative, collaboration, and anticipation Availability General technical mastery Being a volunteer firefighter is considered an asset Benefits Varied work Remuneration according to the regulations and social benefits of the Commune de Val-de-Travers Start date: 1st October 2026 or by agreement For any additional information, Mr. Yann Klauser, head of the infrastructure department, is at your disposal at 032 886 43 55.
