Canton of Schaffhausen, Department of Family and Youth As the cantonal department responsible for family and youth policy, we are committed to continuously improving the framework conditions for diverse living situations of children, young people, and their families. We are the direct point of contact for parenting and childcare questions and accompany children, young people, and their families in emergency situations. We network providers of child and youth promotion, child and youth welfare, and advise on suspected endangerment of the well-being of children. We advise and supervise institutions providing family and school complementary care and promote the compatibility of work and family life. We are looking for reinforcement for our motivated team of around 20 people as of September 1, 2026, or by agreement. Specialist in charge of licensing and supervision of non-familial day care structures (m/w), 50–80 % What awaits you • Examination of applications for the certificate of suitability as a day family (licensing) • Supervision of all day families subject to reporting • Preparation of reports and protocols as well as issuance of certificates of suitability • Documentation within the framework of digitalized dossier management • Execution of general administrative tasks • Advice to day care parents as well as involved authorities, municipalities, and specialist offices • Advice to departmental and departmental management in the dossier of day families • Participation in the processing of important political affairs • Monitoring and development of the entire specialist area of non-familial day care structures • Planned expansion of the position: takeover of dossiers in the area of family and school complementary care institutions (licensing and supervision of kindergartens, after-school care centers, and lunch facilities) What you bring • University degree (Master) in Social Work, Social and Special Education, and Special Needs Education or comparable training • Solid professional experience in the field of child, youth, and family • High interest and commitment to the area of non-familial day care structures • Willingness to implement legal framework conditions • Affinity for administrative tasks, political processes, and legal issues • High communication skills and experience in conducting conversations • Confident demeanor also in challenging conversations, negotiating skills, and decision-making ability • Good oral and written language skills as well as pleasure and experience in writing reports and protocols • Independent, careful, and efficient working method • Good knowledge of common office programs • Driver's license category B and private vehicle for investigation and supervision visits We offer you • A responsible and interesting activity in a committed team that works together • A field of activity that enables contact with numerous specialist offices, day families, and other cantonal actors • Modern employment conditions according to cantonal personnel law with the possibility of home office • Opportunities for further development of your own expertise • A collegial working atmosphere in the city of Schaffhausen The Canton of Schaffhausen as an employer The Cantonal Administration of Schaffhausen provides services to the public, companies, and private individuals in various areas.
