Kanton Schaffhausen, Amt für Justiz und Gemeinden

The Amt für Justiz und Gemeinden comprises twelve people. In addition to municipal supervision, it is responsible in particular for cantonal tasks in civil law (e.g., inheritance law, civil status law), the processing of appeal proceedings, the support of legislative projects, and the execution of sentences. The office is managed by a co-leadership divided into specialized areas (Head of Legal Services as well as Head of Execution of Sentences).

We are looking for an enterprising leadership personality as of 1 February 2027 or by arrangement:

What awaits you

• Management of the office in organizational, personnel, and professional respects together with a co-leader, who is responsible for the area of execution of sentences.
• Preparation of consultations of the Government Council and the Department on behalf of the Confederation
• Processing of appeal proceedings
• Fulfillment of civil law supervisory functions (civil status, inheritance)
• Citizenship matters
• Legislative projects on behalf of the Head of Department
• Participation in inter- and intra-cantonal committees, working groups, and conferences

What you bring with you

• Completed legal studies (Master or Licentiate), attorney's license an advantage
• Sound professional experience (preferably in public administration), ideally in a leadership function
• High organizational, methodical, and communicative skills
• Good intuition and diplomatic skill in dealing with various stakeholders
• Strategic and networked thinking
• Impeccable reputation, confidentiality, loyalty, and ability to work in a team
• Assertiveness and a convincing appearance
