General Project Manager: WtE Plant Renewal (m/f/d) A generational project for energy and environmental infrastructure – you take on the responsibility. Introduction Our client, Stadtwerk Winterthur, is the public energy and disposal organization of the city of Winterthur. For the renewal and conversion of a central combustion line of a latest-generation waste incineration plant with an investment volume of nearly CHF 300 Mio., we are looking for a strong leadership personality for the position General Project Manager: WtE Plant Renewal (m/f/d) Your area of responsibility In this key role, you will take on the general project management of the renewal of the combustion line throughout the entire project life cycle – from strategic preparation and tendering to final financial settlement. At the center of your task is the technical and personnel leadership of an internal project team of up to 5 employees, as well as the management of external planning teams with around 50 specialists from various disciplines. In the preparation phase, you will develop action plans and decision-making bases, accompany legal clarifications regarding tenders, building permits, and contract law, and incorporate plant-specific requirements into the planning. During execution, you are responsible for costs, quality, and deadlines, manage external engineering firms, request quotes, and conduct tenders in compliance with the law – including high-volume awards in the state treaty area (GATT/WTO). You negotiate with companies and suppliers and identify deviations early to initiate appropriate measures in a timely manner. As a central interface, you coordinate project-specific matters with the Confederation, Canton, and associations, as well as cross-departmentally within the city of Winterthur, and bear overall responsibility for the project's compliance. Your personality You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, energy technology, or a related technical discipline; further training in industrial engineering or project management is an advantage. At the center of this task is your proven leadership experience. You have already led internal project teams of comparable size technically and personally, delegate responsibility clearly, and demand results – also towards the external general planner as well as other specialist planning teams of various disciplines. Equally central is your proven experience in the implementation of large-scale projects from CHF 25 Mio. in project business along the SIA-112 standard. Collaboration with public clients, authorities, and political bodies is familiar to you from your own practice, as is the confident handling of project controlling, procurement, contract management, and supplementary claim management. Technically, you bring experience in process engineering, risk analysis, procurement law, and contract management. You plan in a structured manner, think analytically and strategically, and approach challenges with initiative, solution orientation, and perseverance. In dealing with people, you convince through strong communication skills, negotiation skills, and a confident appearance towards different stakeholder groups. You maintain a calm control over deadline and cost pressure; you lead internal teams and external specialists clearly, reliably, and in a solution-oriented manner.
