It works together with other cantonal offices, with the Federal Office for Food Safety and Veterinary Affairs, with veterinarians, as well as other professional circles and organizations.

Would you like to actively commit to animal welfare and ensure species-appropriate animal husbandry? As an animal welfare inspector, you will take on a central role in inspecting animal husbandry in the Canton of Luzern and ensuring that legal requirements are met - from agricultural businesses to pet keeping.

Your tasks

• With your expertise in animal behavior and the needs of animals, you will recognize deficiencies early and initiate the necessary measures to protect the animals.
• Your focus is on the inspection and clarification of the husbandry of livestock and pets.
• You carry out animal welfare inspections and clarifications and ensure that digital data on animal welfare cases are maintained carefully and up to date. You record inspections, complaints, legal hearings, and decrees correctly.
• The processing of administrative procedures is also part of your versatile area of responsibility. You write reports, complaints, and decrees, thereby contributing to the consistent enforcement of animal welfare law.
• Furthermore, you provide support for statements for public prosecutors, courts, and lawyers and handle general correspondence within the framework of animal welfare proceedings.

Your profile

• You have a degree in veterinary medicine or a related field as well as specialist knowledge in the area of livestock and pets. Or you have training as an official specialist assistant in animal welfare or an official specialist expert in animal welfare.
• Through your practical experience in the care, husbandry, and supervision of pets and livestock, you know the requirements for species-appropriate animal husbandry.
• Ideally, you have already gained professional experience in administration, enforcement, or animal welfare.
• You grasp complex facts quickly, bring them precisely to the point, and enjoy writing demanding texts and extensive documents.
• You approach challenges independently and in a solution-oriented manner, make appropriate decisions, and at the same time value exchange and cooperation in a competent and well-coordinated team.
