About us:
The Schweizerische Islamische Gemeinschaft Oberuzwil is a branch of the Schweizerische Islamische Gemeinschaft, an umbrella organization of various Muslim communities and associations in German-speaking Switzerland.

Our community is a place of encounter, faith, and communal living. We offer religious and social activities as well as educational offerings for children, youth, and adults. In doing so, we place special emphasis on religious education, cohesion within the community, and an open, respectful exchange with our society.

To strengthen our community, we are looking for a committed and qualified Imam who will accompany our members religiously, help shape the educational work, and actively contribute to our community life.

Your tasks:
Leading regular prayers, Friday prayers, and religious rituals in our community

Religious education and further training of children, youth, and adults

Conducting seminars, lectures, and workshops on religious and social topics

Advising and supporting our community members in religious and social matters

Pastoral care, especially in cases of illness or death

Leading and organizing religious ceremonies and events on holidays

Promoting cohesion within our community and supporting youth work

Maintaining interreligious dialogue as well as relationships with local authorities and institutions

Conducting home visits for important family or religious occasions

Close cooperation with our community leadership as well as the SIG headquarters

Your profile:
Completed studies in Islamic theology

Hafiz (complete memorization of the Qur’an)

In-depth knowledge of Hadith sciences as well as in traditional and modern Hadith teaching

Very good Turkish and Arabic skills (oral and written)

Good German skills for independent activity in the social and societal environment (oral and written)

Pedagogical knowledge and experience in religious educational work with different age groups

Appreciative and respectful treatment of people from different cultural backgrounds

Convincing communication skills, teaching competence, and rhetoric

High reliability, flexibility, resilience, and teamwork skills

Independent way of working and willingness to work irregular hours

Willingness for continuous further training (e.g., SZIG Fribourg, project «Zürich Kompetenz»)
