The DDPS General Secretariat is the staff body of the department. It assists the head of the department as a member of the Federal Council and in the management of the department. The SG DDPS develops the political strategy and directives intended for the administrative units, supports and monitors their implementation. It also ensures planning, control, and coordination at the departmental level in the cross-cutting areas of personnel, finance, law, and IT, but also in the field of security policy or in the field of spatial planning and the environment.
