Biology Laboratory Technician - Microbiological Quality Control (100%) (m/f/d)

In this role, you will perform routine microbiological analyses in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment, thereby making an important contribution to ensuring the quality of our products and production processes. Your focus will include, among other things, bioburden analyses and microbiological plate pour methods as well as the processing of various routine, raw material, and water samples.

In doing so, you will work carefully and reliably in a diverse team of around 15 employees and bring the necessary flexibility for the different requirements of a microbiological QC laboratory.

Competencies and Responsibilities

• Execution and evaluation of routine microbiological analyses on various samples, raw materials, and water samples in a GMP-regulated environment, particularly using bioburden analyses and microbiological plate pour methods.
• Precise recording, documentation, and evaluation of quantitative and qualitative analytical data in the corresponding data management system.
• Ensuring the correct handling and integrity of the samples to be examined as well as supporting troubleshooting activities in the laboratory.
• Review of analytical results as well as careful handling and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Participation in process optimizations and the introduction of new technologies within the microbiological QC laboratory.
• Ensuring a reliable and GMP-compliant way of working as well as compliance with relevant quality and safety requirements.
• Undertaking weekend shifts approximately once per month on Saturday and Sunday.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

• Completed training as a Laboratory Technician EFZ, Lab Technician, BTA, MTA, or a comparable scientific education; alternatively a Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
• Practical experience with microbiological laboratory methods, ideally with bioburden analyses and plate pour methods.
• Experience in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment; alternatively sound experience with aseptic working techniques.
• Good German skills at least at B2 level; English skills are an advantage.
• Enjoyment of practical laboratory work and the reliable execution of recurring routine analyses.
• Precise, conscientious, and detail-oriented way of working as well as a strong awareness of quality.
• Strong teamwork skills and enjoyment of collaborating in a diverse team.
• Flexibility and willingness to contribute to different tasks within the QC laboratory according to operational requirements.

• You will become part of our approximately 15-member QC Microbiology team in Bern, in which colleagues with different backgrounds and experiences work together. Good teamwork is as important as the ability to perform your daily laboratory tasks reliably and independently.
