The Federal Institute of Metrology METAS is the reference institute for measurements and measuring instruments in Switzerland. To ensure that a liter is always a liter (e.g., when refueling), METAS performs calibrations, conformity assessments, and consultancies for business, research, and administration. Measurement accuracy creates trust, especially on a social and political level, and is indispensable in many areas: in road traffic, electricity billing, time transfer, measurements in the environmental and health sectors, etc. At METAS, various specialist fields meet and complement each other – and this has been the case since 1862.

Your new challenge

• Operation, maintenance, and further development of the server infrastructure in the internal data center with a focus on Microsoft technologies, VMware, as well as partly Linux
• Planning, conception, and implementation of IT infrastructure solutions in a hybrid system landscape
• Operation and further development of the technical infrastructure of the Data Lake in close cooperation with the Data Science team
• Support and further development of central infrastructure topics such as Active Directory, Access Management, IT Security, Backup, and Life Cycle Management
• Planning and implementation of the selective migration of infrastructure, services, and applications to the cloud, taking IT security requirements into account

Your profile

• Completed training as an Informatiker/in EFZ with further education HF/FH or a comparable qualification
• Several years of experience in the operation and further development of IT infrastructures, ideally in complex or hybrid system landscapes
• Sound knowledge in the Microsoft environment as well as experience with on-premise, hybrid, and cloud infrastructures
• Experience in the planning, conception, and implementation of IT infrastructure solutions as well as knowledge in areas such as Active Directory, Access Management, IT Security, and Backup
• Team-oriented and independent way of working, initiative, and openness to technological changes as well as willingness to perform on-call duty on weekends on a rotating basis with the other specialists in the team. Confident communication in an official language (German or French) supplemented by good knowledge of a second official language as well as in English completes your profile.
