Tasks

Accompanying and Promoting

You accompany students in everyday school life and specifically promote their social, emotional, and academic development. In doing so, you strengthen their independence, their sense of responsibility, and their non-subject-specific competencies. In the development of the concept, you work closely with the school management, school social work, and the teachers.

Cooperation

You work closely with specialist teachers, teachers of school special education, school social work, and the school management. You actively participate in the professional exchange and contribute your socio-pedagogical perspective to the cooperation.

Crisis Prevention and Intervention

You work in a team and actively contribute to the design of a structured and reliable school everyday life. You provide support in challenging situations, provide orientation, and promote the children's ability for self-regulation.

Profile

Experience

You have sound experience in socio-pedagogical work with children, particularly in dealing with challenging behavior as well as in accompanying developmental and crisis situations. Experience in a school context is an advantage. You have a natural and appreciative approach to the multicultural environment.

Personality

You are a resilient, reflective, and empathetic personality with clear communication. You approach challenges constructively, are solution-oriented, and maintain calm, overview, and professionalism even in demanding situations. You possess a high degree of resilience and have no difficulty dealing with affected people in crisis situations.

Education

You have completed training in social pedagogy (FH / HF or equivalent).

Language

Stylistically confident German in spoken and written form is essential for this function. Other languages are an advantage.

The public schools area of the Erziehungsdepartement Basel-Stadt covers the entire compulsory school period, from kindergarten through primary school to secondary school. It is responsible for school operations and school care services outside of instructional time.
