Winterthur / Smart Working We are rebuilding motor vehicle claims processing from the ground up: instead of digitizing existing processes, we are designing a new solution with AI at its center. This is productive pioneering work - the system is intended to be the future of our claims processing. To this end, we are building a new, powerful team, which is part of Claims Analytics within the Competence Center Data & AI of AXA Schweiz. As one of the first engineers, you will help shape the project from the beginning. Your contribution • You bear co-responsibility for the new Agentic-AI system, from architecture to productive operation • You design, implement, operate, and monitor robust, LLM-based pipelines in the cloud (GCP) • You work closely with Data Scientists and business stakeholders, translating between both worlds and transforming requirements into functioning, reliable AI systems. In doing so, you actively contribute your own perspective • As AI Engineering Lead, you are a sparring partner, an impulse provider, and the technical conscience of the team, always with an open ear for ideas and the courage to question assumptions • You do not move on well-trodden paths, but actively participate in the construction of a fundamentally new claims processing system Your skills and talents • AI Engineering: You are familiar with productive AI systems and their operation. You have practical experience with Agentic AI, RAG, and Context Engineering. You know where language models fail and have strategies to deal with it. Solid software engineering fundamentals are required. • Tech Stack: Python and its libraries (e.g., LangChain) are your everyday life. You build APIs, orchestrate workflows, and integrate AI components into existing systems. Experience with GCP (especially Vertex AI & Cloud Run), MLOps, CI/CD, or container technologies is an advantage. • System & Architectural Thinking: You design the overall architecture and think beyond individual components. You always make decisions taking latency, costs, security, and maintainability into account. You know when an agentic approach is the right solution and when a simpler component is sufficient. • Way of Working: You work proactively, independently, and can tolerate ambiguity. The path is not prescribed to you - you find it by taking action, testing hypotheses, and correcting them. Mistakes are not a problem as long as you learn from them and adjust the course. • Tech Lead: You set the technical direction, provide impulses, and make decisions. At the same time, you roll up your sleeves and leave room for ideas from the team, because you know: technical leadership does not mean having all the answers, but finding the best one together. • Domain Knowledge: Experience in insurance (especially in claims processing) is a plus.
