The Office of vocational training (OFP) is a service of the Department of Education, Culture and Environmental Protection (DEPE) and implements the educational mandates of the Confederation and the canton in the field of initial vocational training. It is also a competence center for questions of vocational, school and university guidance as well as an accompanying body throughout the professional career.

The Vocational, studies and career guidance department (OPEC) advises and informs young people and adults personally, independently and free of charge on questions of profession, studies and career. The OPEC supports in the choice of profession, studies or career and accompanies in the planning of the professional future.

We are looking for the Office of vocational training from 1 January 2027 or by agreement for a vocational, studies and career guidance counselor (70-80 %).

Your area of responsibility

• Advice and information for young people and adults in the choice of profession, school and studies as well as in the design of the professional career
• Supporting clients to use their own resources, to act autonomously and to make independent decisions
• Maintaining collaboration with teachers of secondary levels I and II as well as upper secondary schools and vocational schools for preparation for the choice of profession and career design
• Organization of information events for parents and classes
• Regular maintenance of contacts with schools, educational institutions, competence centers and the economy
• Participation in internal projects and working groups

What we expect from you

• A recognized federal-level training as a vocational, studies and career guidance counselor or the willingness to undergo this training
• Skills in advice and information as well as specialized knowledge in psychology, theories of vocational, studies and career choice
• Competent and convincing presentation in front of young people and adults, parents and teachers
• Preferably knowledge of regional economic structures as well as the labor market
• Committed, solution-oriented and resilient personality with excellent communication skills
• Good oral and written expression in German;
• Good knowledge of several cantonal languages is an advantage
• Flexibility and good organizational skills, as well as a high degree of personal responsibility
