ABOUT US
Imperix is a leading provider of control and prototyping solutions for power electronics. Founded in 2013 as a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), the company develops and commercializes prototyping and test equipment for power electronics, electric drives, smart grids, and related fields. Our products are designed to accelerate the implementation of power converter prototypes and facilitate experimental activities in research laboratories. Our customer base includes both universities and industrial clients seeking to validate state-of-the-art control techniques or new power converter topologies. Today, over 90% of our sales are generated internationally across more than 50 countries.
At Imperix, we are a young and dynamic team of approximately 35 people. We are conveniently located within a short walking distance of the train station in Sion.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As part of our engineering team, which is predominantly composed of electrical and power electronics engineers, you will gradually become our primary mechanical specialist and take full ownership of most mechanical designs across our product line. By doing so, your role will focus on bridging mechanical design and electrical systems, particularly enclosure design, high-current or high-voltage wiring, and system-level cabinet integration.
In this position, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, having the unique opportunity to build, structure, and grow the role as imperix expands. As such, your work will directly impact our development into higher-power, higher-energy systems, while maintaining the modular approach that characterizes our company.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN DUTIES
• Lead 3D mechanical modeling and technical drafting in SolidWorks for product enclosures, sub-assemblies, and customized cabinet integrations.
• Design custom sheet metal housings, molded or extruded enclosures, and internal mounting or busbar structures.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers on the design of high-voltage systems, considering insulation distances, as well as shielding and thermal management constraints.
• Produce manufacturing packages, 2D drawings, assembly instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturers.
• Coordinate prototype manufacturing and manage suppliers for all mechanical projects.
• Build, assemble, and test mechanical prototypes in our workshop.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education and experience BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a related field. Seniority Junior (0-3 years), with hands-on CAD and prototyping experience.
Technical skills Proficiency with SolidWorks. Understanding of manufacturing processes.
Language Good command of English, both written and spoken. Other languages a plus.
THIS POSITION WILL SUIT YOU IF
• You appreciate a young and friendly environment that is also rigorous and demanding.
• You are looking for a role that isn't just about 3D CAD modeling, but about working on projects from start to finish, including prototyping and manufacturing.
• You like being part of a multidisciplinary team and are curious about electrical systems.
• You are capable of learning on your own and excited to become the reference for mechanics.
• You are self-motivated and capable of working both individually and as part of a team.
HOW TO APPLY
If you feel like working with us, please send us your CV along with a cover letter that:
• Details your motivations and what you would bring to the team,
• Demonstrates how you fulfill the requirements and qualifications stated above,
• Shows you already have a work permit in Switzerland or that you are entitled to get one.
Email correspondence should be addressed to jobs@imperix.ch.
We read every application carefully and reply within 10 days to profiles that interest us. We correspond only with applicants who provide a complete application as described above. Generic or obviously machine-generated letters will not be considered.
