The Massnahmenzentrum St. Johannsen is a correctional facility of the Canton of Bern and serves as an open center for the treatment of 80 psychologically distressed or addiction-afflicted offenders. The measure is intended to help the committed persons find a self-responsible and offense-free life.
Two of our long-standing colleagues are retiring. We are looking for committed personalities who will complement our team professionally and personally.

Your tasks
As a security service employee, you perform security, supervision, and intervention tasks daily during 24 hours in a 3-shift operation
You are responsible for the security of the staff, the committed persons, the visitors, and for the protection of the public
Active conversation management for the early detection of tensions, risks, and needs, as well as targeted intervention for de-escalation and stabilization of daily correctional life
You are responsible for the professional and proper execution of person, presence, object, and narcotic controls, as well as receiving and processing telephone calls
You know the procedures in emergencies and crisis situations and accompany the committed persons during transfers
You work interdisciplinary with other departments
The monitoring and control of security systems and administrative work, such as creating reports, documenting work processes, and logging events, complete your area of responsibility

Your profile
You have an unblemished record and completed vocational training with a federal certificate of proficiency (eidg. Fähigkeitszeugnis) in a manual, technical, social, or commercial direction
Preferably, you bring professional experience in the field of security (corrections, emergency services, army) and basic knowledge in self-protection
Working with committed persons with mental disorders or in addiction treatment is both a challenge and an incentive for you
As a resilient, stable, capable of criticism, and vigilant personality, you act calmly, deliberately, proportionately, and goal-oriented even in delicate situations
You enjoy working in a team and are interested in and open to new things
You can express yourself stylistically confidently in speech and writing and have good digital skills. Advantageously, you possess oral communication skills in a second official language
You hold a CH driving license of cat. B

You will acquire the necessary correctional knowledge during an in-service training or further education at the Swiss Competence Center for Corrections and through internal training. About the Office for Corrections
The Office for Corrections (AJV) is responsible for the open and closed criminal and measure enforcement for adults and adolescents within the Security Directorate of the Canton of Bern (SID) with around 1000 employees. To fulfill this task, the office has at its disposal four concordat correctional facilities, four regional prisons, the detention station at the Inselspital, the detention management center, as well as the probation and enforcement services.
