The Heilsarmee Schweiz is a church and social non-profit organization and offers uncomplicated support to people in challenging life situations. On behalf of the city of Bern, it offers places in collective accommodations for people from the asylum and refugee sector. The collective accommodation (KU) Tiefenau offers places for 492 displaced people.

Your tasks

• Counter service during the night and on weekends and public holidays
• Operating the telephone and the fire alarm system
• Central contact person for the residents
• Care and support of the residents with everyday concerns
• Ensuring peace, order, and security in the accommodation
• Recognizing and acting appropriately in emergencies and crisis situations
• If necessary, alerting the police, fire department, or emergency services
• Mediating and enforcing house rules as well as documenting relevant incidents
• Checking cleaning work in the evening and on the weekend
• Carrying out orders from the daytime team
• Presence and control rounds as well as visitor controls and directing people away after visiting hours have expired
• Ensuring compliance with the internal security and evacuation concept
• Careful handover and documentation of important information

What you bring with you

• Completed vocational training or experience in this position
• Good German language skills, other foreign language skills are an advantage
• Transcultural communication skills
• IT skills MS Office
• First aid course or refresher, not older than 2 years
• Flexible, resilient, and service-oriented
• Compliance with data protection
• Experience with crisis situations as well as with the topics of violence and traumatization
• Even in hectic times, operating with humor and a cool head
• Readiness for irregular working hours
• Unproblematic criminal record extract
• Minimum age 25 years
