• 17 July 2026 • 100% • Indefinite duration • Possible • Speichergasse 6, 3000 Bern Take an active part in Swiss social policy The Conference of Cantonal Directors of Social Affairs (CDAS) supports and coordinates collaboration between the cantons in the field of social policy and defends their interests, particularly towards the Confederation. At the intercantonal level, the CDAS plays a driving role in terms of social policy and promotes cooperative federalism. Among its priority themes are social insurance and the fight against poverty, migration policy, the well-being of families, children and adolescents as well as persons with disabilities, as well as the field of victim assistance and the fight against addiction. For the management of the General Secretariat, the CDAS Committee is looking for a personality endowed with a strong political sense, a curious mind and solid communication skills, for the position of Secretary General of the CDAS, 80-100 % ## Your mission You ensure the management of the CDAS General Secretariat on technical, personnel and organizational levels. You ensure that the political bodies of the CDAS can work in a prospective, evidence-based and efficient manner. In collaboration with a small, highly qualified team, you prepare the files for the Plenary Assembly, the Committee and other bodies of the CDAS, develop decision-making bases, coordinate positions and accompany political processes at the levels of the Confederation and the cantons. You closely follow developments in social policy, identify needs for action very early and help the cantons define viable common positions. You are committed to Swiss federalism and defend the interests of the cantons. As a personality representing the CDAS, you intervene in public debate, within political bodies and specialized organizations and you maintain a wide network at the three state levels as well as in Parliament. You contribute to the continued development of the CDAS as an organization and, through your inspiring and trustworthy nature, you participate in its strong credibility. Your profile You have a very good understanding of the Swiss political system, both at national and cantonal levels, and move with ease at the interface of politics, administration and professional circles. You demonstrate great sensitivity to different cantonal realities and political priorities. You know how to distinguish situations that require leadership or rather mediation, and you accompany political processes with diplomacy, rigor and perseverance. You are capable of quickly grasping complex socio-political issues, processing them in an understandable manner and translating them into solid decision-making bases. To do this, you combine strong analytical capacity, a pragmatic spirit, reliability and enthusiasm: you wish to contribute to the evolution of society and have learned to maintain your overview and your confidence even under pressure. You communicate with precision, both in writing and orally, in a manner adapted to your interlocutor. You dialogue easily as an equal with members of the government, parliamentarians, civil servants of the administration as well as representatives of civil society and the media. You master at least two national languages at a level allowing you to conduct negotiations and you understand English.
