Head of Legal Services (m/f/d) # 100%, Zürich, permanent #### print Print The Legal Services department of ETH Zürich is part of the General Secretariat of ETH Zürich, which is assigned to the School Board with the tasks of a general staff unit. Due to the retirement of the current job holder, we are looking for a personality with proven leadership skills starting in early 2027 or by arrangement. Job Description ## The Legal Services department advises the School Board, the central administration, the departments, and other units of ETH Zürich on legal issues. The spectrum of activities is very broad and includes processing and advisory mandates in both public law and private law. The Legal Services department conducts administrative appeal proceedings and participates in internal investigations. As Head of Legal Services, you are the first point of contact for legal questions for the President and the other members of the School Board of ETH Zürich. Your diverse tasks include collaborating with various stakeholders of ETH Zürich, the ETH area, and the Federal Administration. You participate in contract negotiations with third parties, take on the legal management of complex projects, develop and review contracts as well as internal regulations (ordinances, guidelines, instructions), and create legal interpretations. You represent the Legal Services department in working groups and are in regular exchange with the staff units and departments of ETH Zürich. Profile ## We are looking for a winning and integral personality who leads a small, motivated, and collegial team both personally and professionally. You quickly familiarize yourself with the complex topics and connections of a university and enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams. You are prepared to take on a high degree of responsibility and to think outside the box. You can quickly analyze complex facts and present the different options for action to decision-makers in light of the applicable legal order and the guidelines relevant to the university. You are resilient and remain calm in difficult situations and with controversial topics. You are characterized by negotiation skills, high social competence, and teamwork abilities. In your work, you always keep the interests of the overall organization in view.
