In particular, it can open inquiries and adopt measures to remedy cases of unlawful data processing. On the other hand, by virtue of the transparency law, the IFPDT is the competence center for all matters relating to the principle of transparency and access to official documents in the Federal Administration. Its main task consists of directing mediation procedures between citizens and authorities in cases where the latter do not guarantee access to an official document.
