The Office for the Environment ensures the protection and sustainable management of natural resources and ensures that the environment of the Canton of Solothurn remains livable. For the Water Engineering Department, we are looking for a Scientific Assistant Hydrometry, 40-60% at the Solothurn location, starting on or after agreement.

Your responsibility

• In cooperation with external contractors, you ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the cantonal hydrometry measurement network and ensure the coordination of hydrometry with the Confederation and other cantons.
• Through plausibility checks, processing, and evaluation of measurement data, you provide important foundations for internal and external users.
• Increasing hydrological extreme events (floods, drought) require committed management of exceptional situations in surface waters from you.
• The continuous updating of the water network, updating of eco-morphology, and publication of important data for the public are part of your area of responsibility.
• You are a member of the cantonal flood standby service.

Your profile

• You acquired your technical expertise through a university degree in the field of engineering or environmental sciences or a higher environmental technical specialist training and possess experience in the areas of hydrometry, eco-morphology, drought/flood management, and data evaluation.
• Initiating and leading projects suits you and you bring experience in project management.
• You are familiar with using GIS, databases, and software for statistical data analysis.
• You bring patience, humor, and the conviction to commit yourself to a good cause.
• You enjoy working in a team and are ready to tackle tasks and challenges with commitment.
