Co-School Management Cycle 3

As one of our long-standing school directors will be retiring in summer 2027, we are looking for a committed personality as a complement to our school management team in Hochfeld 1. Together with the two co-school directors on-site and another co-school director in the Enge schoolhouse, you will take responsibility for the leadership and further development of our school and actively shape its future.
Your degree of employment would look as follows:

• 35-40% school management with MR and regular school management
• 10% house board (Hausvorstand)
• supplementary teaching lessons if desired
• presence on at least 3 days

The employment is for the entire school district. If required, additional tasks within the school district may be assigned in addition to the advertised duties.

The Schulkreis Länggasse-Felsenau is an important component of a diverse and lively living and educational space in the city of Bern. Cycle 3 is distributed across the two schoolhouses Hochfeld 1 and Enge and comprises a total of around 400 students in 20 classes. In the Hochfeld 1 schoolhouse, 15 classes are managed, including three talent classes. Diversity, appreciation, and mutual respect characterize our everyday school life.

What you move

• Together with the co-school directors and the dedicated team, you further develop the quality of the school and pick up on current social, pedagogical, and school developments.
• You lead with clarity, esprit, and empathy, provide orientation, and inspire employees for common goals. In doing so, you take responsibility for personnel management, even in demanding situations.
• You are responsible for the MR area as well as a sub-area of the administration and organization of operational school activities.
• Together with the co-school directors, you lead location and schoolhouse conferences.
• The school managements position the school as an attractive and future-oriented place of learning and working and maintain constructive exchange with the relevant stakeholders from education, administration, and the neighborhood.
• You advise and support students and legal guardians in school-related questions and are responsible for career decisions as well as topics surrounding child welfare.
• You work closely with the school managements in the school district and the school commission and contribute actively.

What you bring

• You have a pedagogical education, preferably in Cycle 3, as well as teaching experience and a track record of working with adolescents of compulsory school age.
• You have already completed, started, or are ready to immediately start a school management training (or a comparable leadership training).
• Experience in the MR area is an advantage. Otherwise, you bring the willingness to further educate yourself in this area.
• You are a team-oriented personality with strategic foresight and the ability to design development processes participatively and effectively.
• You value the collegial cooperation with the co-school directors of Cycle 3 and contribute committedly, constructively, and reliably to the joint leadership.
• You work in a networked, solution-oriented manner and maintain an overview even in challenging situations.
• You make well-founded decisions even in demanding situations and act in a binding, transparent, and responsible manner.
• You encounter different cultures, perspectives, and life worlds with openness, interest, and appreciation and advocate for an inclusive and respectful school culture.
