The Regional Prison Burgdorf is the most modern prison in the Canton of Bern and stands for a secure, structured, and responsible execution of various types of detention. With around 160 inmates and 60 employees, we ensure orderly operations and high security standards daily. We are oriented towards the motto: "Security today and tomorrow. Your tasks

• You coordinate the daily business in facility management and sanitary maintenance and ensure smooth operational processes. In addition, you independently carry out maintenance, inspection, and repair work on the sanitary facilities in compliance with applicable security standards.
• In everyday work, you accompany, motivate, and support inmates according to work-agogic principles and strengthen their work and social competencies. In doing so, you consistently implement hygiene, safety, and occupational health and safety regulations and ensure their compliance in the work area.
• Furthermore, you carry out smaller restoration and maintenance work professionally. This includes, among other things, fixing clogged drains as well as the replacement and repair of fittings, seals, siphons, and cisterns. You regularly inspect the building technology, recognize possible malfunctions early, and initiate the necessary measures for their rectification.

Your profile

• You have completed training as a Sanitary Installer EFZ or Specialist in Facility Management EFZ. Ideally, you bring several years of professional experience and possess a strong technical understanding. You also maintain an overview and act prudently even in challenging situations.
• When dealing with inmates, you act respectfully, clearly, and consistently. You are willing to specifically undergo further training in the areas of corrections and work-agogics and to expand your professional and personal competencies accordingly.
• You enjoy working in a team and maintain constructive cooperation with different specialist departments. You communicate with stylistic confidence in German; knowledge of other foreign languages is an advantage. A driving license of category B is required; a forklift license is an advantage.

About the Office of Corrections

With around 1000 employees, the Office of Corrections (AJV) is responsible for the open and closed execution of sentences and measures for adults and young people within the Security Directorate of the Canton of Bern (SID). To fulfill this task, the office has four concordat correctional facilities, four regional prisons, the detention station at the Inselspital, the detention management center, as well as probation and execution services at its disposal.
