Senior Physician Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatry Geriatric psychiatry means combining medical excellence with foresight, humanity, and scientific curiosity. At the Universitären Psychiatrischen Zentrum (UPZ) Bern, as a Senior Physician, you will actively help shape geriatric psychiatry – professionally, structurally, and content-wise. You will take responsibility in clinical care, shape the further development of services, and contribute your expertise in research, teaching, and interdisciplinary collaboration. In a university environment with a high degree of creative freedom, you will make a sustainable contribution to the care of older people with psychiatric illnesses and cognitive changes. Your Tasks You provide medical leadership for a geriatric psychiatry ward (all clinical pictures) and actively help shape services You treat patients in an integrated psychiatric-psychotherapeutic manner You conduct geriatric psychiatry continuing education and case supervisions in the interprofessional team You lead and promote assistant physicians as well as the interprofessional team and participate in the clinical teaching of medical students You network and coordinate care with adjacent psychiatric and somatic clinics and across sectors You support research projects and, with interest and an appropriate profile, develop your own scientific projects within the framework of a doctorate or habilitation Your Profile You have a specialist qualification in psychiatry, ideally with a focus on geriatric psychiatry, alternatively with the specialist qualification in neurology, general internal medicine, or the focus on geriatrics with corresponding clinical experience in psychiatry during the training period You have a completed medical degree recognized in Switzerland, EU, or EFTA (MEBEKO recognition) You are interested in neurocognitive disorders and geriatric medicine You enjoy working interprofessionally, are flexible, and bring joy to teamwork You act on your own initiative, proactively, and in a structured manner You master the German language in speaking and writing at level C2 The UPZ As a university clinic, the Universitäre Psychiatrische Zentrum Bern (UPZ) is the leading competence center for psychiatry and psychotherapy in the capital region.
