About You Unit8 is looking for a Data & IA Engineer to join our team in one of our two offices (Lausanne and Zurich in Switzerland). You will collaborate closely with our engineers and other data scientists to deliver data-based applications and solutions. We are looking for an autonomous person, eager to use the latest advances in GenAI, data science, and computational techniques to tackle concrete challenges. • MSc level in the field of computer science, machine learning, applied statistics, mathematics, or equivalent professional experience. • You are a competent software engineer who knows the fundamentals of computer science and has experience in applying a mix of software engineering, machine learning, and statistical methods to solve real business problems. • You have programming experience in one of the following languages: Python, R, Scala, Java. • Experience with cloud technologies • Pragmatic attitude; you do not hesitate to take an active part in the engineering aspects of projects. • Good presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to people from other fields. • You understand the value of teamwork. • You have strong client relationship skills: comfortable interacting with clients (business and technical audience), presenting, and solving problems. • You are willing to travel to meet our clients and the team (mainly in Europe - up to 20% of your time). • You speak fluent French and/or German. What You Will Do • Depending on the project, the role may involve working in various areas such as cloud engineering and infrastructure, data engineering and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), as well as machine learning and data science. • Work with our clients to understand their challenges, design and implement solutions. • Evaluate, compare and present results to technical and non-technical audiences. • Contribute to the implementation and engineering of systems at different scales: from small proof-of-concepts to full end-to-end data systems. • Collaborate closely with other data scientists, software engineers and business stakeholders. • Use software best practices in continuous integration and delivery, version control and data evolution. • Work in cross-functional agile teams to experiment, iterate and continuously deliver new product goals.
