Legal Internship Legal Department 100% # Welcome to the fascinating world of taxes! Together with the municipal tax offices, the cantonal tax office levies taxes for the Confederation, the canton, and the municipalities. We support private individuals and companies throughout the entire tax collection process. For this purpose, around 800 qualified employees are engaged at the location in Zürich Altstetten.     The legal department advises the assessment departments on tax law issues, represents the tax office in appeal proceedings, answers inquiries from taxpayers and tax advisors, and decides on the tax exemption of legal entities. To complement our Tax Exemptions team, we are looking for a legal intern starting on 1 September 2026 or by arrangement.    The legal internship offers you the ideal entry to apply your knowledge -on the job-. You have the opportunity to get to know the cantonal administration more closely and simultaneously expand your network.    The internship is limited to 12 months.  Your tasks ### • You carry out reviews of tax exemptions granted in the past.  • Following an introduction, you will conduct the review procedures independently, correspond directly with the tax-exempt organizations or their representatives, and decide on the confirmation of the tax exemption or, after consultation with your supervisors, on a revocation.   • Depending on capacity, you will also support the Tax Exemptions team in deciding on tax exemptions in the context of (simple) new applications.  • In doing so, you will learn a lot about non-profit organizations and their impact, the institute of tax exemptions, and gain a broad insight into the work of the legal department and the tax office.  Your profile ### • You have a completed Master's degree in MLaw or are about to graduate.   • Preferably, you have already gained initial professional experience in the legal field during your studies, ideally at a court.   • You enjoy working independently, are responsible, and show initiative.   • Your high communication skills as well as your strong customer and service orientation distinguish you.  • In addition, you are interested in familiarizing yourself with new subject areas and can grasp connections quickly thanks to your quick comprehension.   What we offer ### • Insights into tax and procedural law as well as into the functioning of the cantonal tax office.  • Professional support from a well-coordinated and experienced team as well as the opportunity to contribute and actively participate.  • With the Canton of Zürich as your employer, you benefit from attractive employment conditions such as flexible working hours, home office options, and lunch checks.  • A modern workplace in the immediate vicinity of the Zürich Altstetten station.  • This internship can partially be credited towards obtaining the attorney's license (Anwaltspatent).  Interested? ### Do you feel challenged and enthusiastic?
