Zürich-Flughafen, Schweiz | 90-90% You can make this contribution <br /> • Ensure the operational service (24/7) according to the duty schedule in the weather center • Take responsibility for weather monitoring, issuing warnings, product creation, and weather consulting for specific users according to the work plan or instructions • Maintain communication with our customers and partner organizations and advise them • Write articles, blogs, and social media posts and hold briefings via video conference, phone, or on-site • Take over the function as duty manager after internal basic training • Take on additional tasks according to agreement (e.g., in projects or committees) <br /> What makes you unique <br /> • University degree (Master) with in-depth knowledge of meteorology; fulfillment of BIP-M requirements (details see MeteoSchweiz website, Basic Instruction Package for Meteorologists according to WMO No. 1083) • Enjoy working in a team; willingness and physical fitness for shift work with different working hours (i.e., also early, late, night, weekend, and holiday shifts) • Quick comprehension and resilience (ability to make rapid and informed decisions in hectic situations); high integrity, reliability, and impeccable reputation • Impeccable written and spoken expression in German and good active knowledge of a second official language (preferably French) as well as passive knowledge of the third official language; also, good communicative and editorial skills in English are necessary (WMO requirements regarding aviation) • Very good skills and interest in communication activities for different target groups on various channels (media, blogs, social networks, briefings) • Valuable additional qualifications: connection to aviation, good knowledge of climate and climate change, experience or interest in project management, journalistic experience or affinity for social media <br /> In a nutshell As a meteorologist in shift work (24/7), you are responsible for timely and high-quality analysis, creation, and communication of forecast and warning products for aviation, army, authorities, and the public.
