For our Rechtsdienst in the Amt für Justizvollzug of the Canton of Bern, we are looking for a committed legal professional. We are committed to a modern, legally compliant penal execution that puts resocialization and recidivism prevention at the center.

Your tasks

• You support and advise the line managers and the organizational units (especially penal institutions and prisons) in all legal matters.
• You use and expand your specialist knowledge in various legal subject areas, especially in execution and enforcement law, data protection, procurement and contract law, as well as in Bernese administrative law.
• You update internal agency decrees and participate in cantonal legislation projects.
• You draft internal instructions, legal briefs, consultations and decrees.
• You work in a committed team and maintain regular exchange with the operational units in penal execution.

Your profile

• Completed legal studies (Master).
• Editorial skill and audience-appropriate style.
• Enjoyment of interdisciplinary issues and contact with numerous contact persons.
• Networked, solution-oriented way of thinking and working.
• Readiness to provide service and a committed appearance.
• High service orientation, sense of responsibility and loyalty.
• Empathic and confident appearance.

About the Amt für Justizvollzug

The Amt für Justizvollzug (AJV) is responsible for the open and closed execution of sentences and measures for adults and young people within the Sicherheitsdirektion of the Canton of Bern (SID), with around 1000 employees. To fulfill this task, the agency has at its disposal four concordat penal institutions, four regional prisons, the guarding station at the Inselspital, the detention management center as well as probation and execution services.
