Legal Internship Civil Division, 80% - 100%

The Obergericht des Kantons Bern offers aspiring female and male lawyers the opportunity to complete a six-month practical judicial training in its criminal or civil division within the meaning of the Ordinance on the Bar Examination (BSG 168.221.1).

Your tasks

As a legal intern in the civil division, you will deal with legal issues from the full breadth of substantive and procedural civil law. You will analyze the contested decisions as well as the questions arising and independently create draft decisions in consultation with your supervisor and under the supervision of the responsible court clerks. During the occasional high-court hearings, you will take the minutes and subsequently edit the written considerations. You will gain insight into the activities of the two civil chambers, the Kindes- und Erwachsenenschutzgericht, as well as the supervisory authority in debt enforcement and bankruptcy matters.

Your profile

A requirement for an application is a successful Bachelor's degree in law from a Swiss university. The Master of Law degree should be obtained within the first weeks of the internship. Central to us is not the grade point average, but the motivation of the applicant. We therefore deliberately do not require a university degree with above-average qualifications.
