The Hochschule Luzern – Rektorat und Hochschuldienste supports the six departments of Technik & Architektur, Wirtschaft, Informatik, Soziale Arbeit, Design Film Kunst as well as Musik in university operations with its departments and organizes and participates in a versatile manner.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for you immediately or by arrangement as
ICT Storage & Data Engineer 80 – 100%
Your tasks
You develop, operate and optimize our Object Storage infrastructure based on Ceph as Product Owner.
You develop, operate and optimize our S3-Glacier-compatible data archiving solution as Product Owner
You support the operation and monitoring of the Block Storage infrastructure (NetApp ONTAP).
You design and realize modern self-service offerings for S3-compatible storage and ensure their secure and reliable operation.
You advise employees and students on the use and integration of S3 storage in various application areas.
You establish best practices for data storage, access concepts, lifecycle management, automation and monitoring.
You automate operational processes, further develop platform components and ensure stable, scalable and secure operation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
You evaluate new technologies and standards and specifically contribute them to the further development of our IT landscape.
Your profile
You have training in computer science, data engineering, system engineering or a comparable field.
You bring experience in the construction, operation and further development of data platforms, storage solutions or infrastructure services.
You are familiar with storage architectures at hardware and software levels
You have practical knowledge in Ceph or comparable distributed storage systems as well as in the area of S3/Object Storage.
You are familiar with automation, APIs, monitoring and IaC – for example with Ansible, Terraform or GitLab CI/CD.
You advise employees and students competently, understand their requirements and develop sustainable technical solutions from them.
You communicate with style in German and have good English skills in a technical environment.
