For our high performance computing and emerging technologies group within the IT Science, Infrastructure and Services department, we are looking for a Your tasks • Serve as principal systems engineer for the PSI Tier-3 WLCG cluster computing infrastructure supporting the CERN CMS experiment • Operate, maintain and improve Linux-based research computing services and infrastructures • Support and interact with the Swiss CMS computing user community using the Tier-3 infrastructure • Collaborate with the national WLCG Tier-2 center operated by the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre CSCS • Contribute to shared operational responsibilities and mutual backup within our HPC/HTC services for PSI • Contribute to the planning and evolution of future Tier-3 and Tier-2 infrastructures and services in preparation for the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) era Your profile • Solid expertise in Linux systems administration in production or research computing environments • Experience with automation and DevOps practices, including configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet, scripting in Bash and Python, Git-based workflows, and preferably CI/CD concepts and infrastructure as code • Experience in monitoring, troubleshooting and debugging complex system and software problems in production environments • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills • Familiarity with batch systems, distributed computing infrastructure, container technologies or high-throughput computing environments is an asset • Knowledge of WLCG infrastructure and services or scientific computing environments is a plus We offer Our institution is based on interdisciplinary, innovative and dynamic collaboration.
