The employer is looking for a: part-time substitute art historian (reported profession) Tasks: • enhances and manages the historical, artistic and cultural heritage of the City, identifying and implementing the appropriate conservation and promotion measures. In particular: • provides consultancy to users in the search for specific content, indicating any reference indications; • sets up indexes, registers, inventories and catalogs on computer media (documentary writings, iconographic, cartographic, photographic, library funds, objects and historical finds); • carries out scientific research activities on the historical, artistic and cultural heritage, draws up its own texts, coordinates essays by other authors, takes care of the editing and publication of volumes published by the City or made in collaboration with other entities; • works for the acquisition of works of art from private individuals if of local interest of historical-artistic or documentary interest; • keeps and supervises, in agreement with the Museo d'arte della Svizzera italiana (MASI), the works of art and cultural goods (objects, photographic material, ancient documentation) coming from the aggregated districts; • regulates, in agreement with MASI, the delivery of historical-artistic goods stored at the Ufficio Patrimonio Culturale; • agrees with the competent entities any conventions regarding the computer management of certain materials of its competence of the Ufficio Patrimonio Culturale; • collaborates with the direct superior and colleagues in the identification and retrieval of works, objects and materials for possible exhibitions of a historical, artistic and cultural nature; • on indication of its direct superior, draws up historical-artistic texts within the framework of possible collaborations with other departments, divisions and services; • on indication of its direct superior, represents the Ufficio Patrimonio Culturale in commissions and working groups; • proposes the purchase of books and publications relevant to the activity of the Ufficio Patrimonio Culturale; • contributes to the processing of correspondence with the users of the Ufficio Patrimonio Culturale (requests, consultations, donations). In addition: • collaborates with the direct superior and colleagues in the custody, conservation and protection of the collections of objects and furnishings of the former Museo storico, as well as the artistic-monumental testimonies of the City and the cultural goods protected at a local level; • collaborates with the direct superior and colleagues in the programming of the restoration and maintenance activity of the historical-artistic heritage; • participates in the drafting of the scientific and operational projects of the Ufficio Patrimonio Culturale; • collaborates with the direct superior and colleagues on the occasion of exhibitions, conferences, study days, book presentations and conferences (such as, for example, good functioning of the relative processes, coordination of the research phases, ordering, setting up, documentation, dissemination and closure of events; scientific curatorship or assistance to the curator, setter and graphic designer; identification and retrieval of objects and materials to be exhibited; start and care of relationships with any public or private lenders); • if required, contributes with its own texts (essays, sheets, apparatus) to the volumes of the exhibitions, to the promotional and informative prints of the Ufficio Patrimonio Culturale (bulletins, leaflets, etc.), and in the drafting of press releases; • participates in the realization of the educational and educational activities connected to possible historical-artistic exhibitions and cultural events; • if required, participates in conferences, seminars and other scientific activities in Svizzera and abroad, including the meetings of scientific societies and professional associations to which the Ufficio Patrimonio Culturale is affiliated; • if authorized, can carry out seminar and educational activities (also at an academic level) on the themes of the research and within the disciplinary scope of the Ufficio Patrimonio Culturale, as well as within the framework of scientific collaboration agreements made by it; • maintains relationships of exchange and scientific collaboration with museums, archives, libraries, documentation centers, at a local, Svizzera and international level, for the purposes of the activity of the Ufficio Patrimonio Culturale; • takes care of the periodic updating of the permanent exhibitions of competence of the Ufficio Patrimonio (Rainis and Aspazija, Museo Wilhelm Schmid, monumental works in the urban context, goods subject to local and/or cantonal protection); • draws up and updates the texts of the website, directly or, when it comes to significant changes, by transmitting the information to the webmaster; • participates in the planning of promotional and dissemination activities within the activities of the Ufficio Patrimonio Culturale (relationships with public and private entities interested, venue hire activities, tourist and promo-publicity activities); • provides assistance and coordinates the work of the administrative staff subordinate to it, of the trainees and of the periodic interns present at the employment service. Finally: • other work assignments compatible with its function and its competences can be conferred upon it. Particular requirements: • university education in the humanistic field preferably in art history; • proven professional experience suitable for the function; • in-depth/specialized knowledge of the history of art in Lugano and in the Canton Ticino, as well as in Svizzera and in the Insubrica area; • experience in relationships with archives, libraries, museums and cultural institutes; • experience in scientific research; • organizational and editorial skills; • flexibility, autonomy and initiative; • precision, reliability
