METAS – or Federal Institute of Metrology – is the reference institute in Switzerland for measurements and measuring instruments. To ensure that a litre is always a litre (for example, when you fill up), METAS performs calibrations, conformity assessments, and provides advice to industry, research, and administration. A trusted source, particularly on social and political levels, metrological accuracy is indispensable in many fields: road traffic, electricity billing, dissemination of time, measurements for the environment and health, etc. Needless to say, at METAS, disciplines have been side by side and in dialogue since 1862.

Your new challenges

• Coordinate and lead scientifically a work package within an international research consortium aiming to standardize liquid biopsy and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) analyses in the case of solid tumors
• Develop, optimize, and apply methods based on dPCR and NGS to detect and quantify biomolecular markers
• Plan, perform, and statistically evaluate method validations and inter-laboratory comparisons, as well as present and publish scientific results
• Ensure the quality, metrological traceability, and international comparability of genomic measurements and participate in the characterization of reference materials and measurement procedures
• Supervise laboratory staff on a technical level and ensure the operation of measurement stations, their quality, and their development according to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard

Your profile

• Master's or Doctorate in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, medicine (laboratory), or a related field
• Proven knowledge of analytical techniques in molecular biology, notably digital PCR and high-throughput sequencing (including bioinformatics), focused on the molecular diagnosis of tumors
• Experience in the development, validation, and quality assurance of analytical methods, ideally in a regulated or accredited field
• Experience in participating in or leading international research projects and a taste for interdisciplinary collaboration with partners from research, industry, and the regulatory field
• Very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of German or French
