It treats people with addiction disorders, including mental secondary and comorbid diseases, especially dual diagnoses, and covers the spectrum from harm reduction to abstinence-oriented treatment. At the main location in Windisch, three specialized wards with different treatment focuses and day-clinic places are available. Also in Windisch, the center carries out substitution-supported treatment as well as heroin-supported treatment for people with opioid addiction. At the locations Aarau, Baden and Windisch, it offers outpatient addiction medicine assessments, treatments and special consultations, also for behavioral addictions. Participation in ongoing clinical research projects is possible and is supported. The center is a SIWF-recognized training facility for the specialization of psychiatry and psychotherapy of addiction disorders, Category A, inpatient and outpatient (2 years for the specialization, 1 additional year creditable towards the specialist medical title)."
