Your responsibility

• Enforcement of animal welfare legislation for livestock, pets and laboratory animals through the performance of on-site inspections and walkthroughs
• Documentation and processing of inspection results as well as the preparation of reports and dossiers
• Cooperation with agricultural enterprises, research institutions as well as other authorities and specialist offices
• Participation in the enforcement of the cantonal dog law
• Assessment of agricultural building applications within the framework of co-reporting procedures

Your background

• Completed studies in veterinary medicine as well as completed further training as an official veterinarian or willingness to acquire this
• Enforcement experience in public veterinary services as well as ideally experience in the areas of animal welfare, laboratory animals and dog affairs
• Good communication skills as well as confident expression in spoken and written language
• Quick comprehension and a strong sense of quality
• High social competence, assertiveness and resilience
• Independent, self-reliant and at the same time team-oriented way of working

The Amt für Lebensmittelsicherheit und Veterinärwesen is a department of the Volkswirtschafts- und Gesundheitsdirektion (VGD) and employs around 40 employees. The Amt für Lebensmittelsicherheit und Veterinärwesen promotes the health and well-being of humans and animals by, as a cantonal enforcement authority, monitoring compliance with food legislation and enforcing laws relating to animals. The laboratory provides the analytical foundations as an important part of the enforcement of food and environmental protection legislation.
