The night watchman is part of the healthcare sector and ensures an active and continuous presence during the night, aimed at the safety, well-being, accompaniment, and care of the Users.
Operating in collaboration with nursing, educational staff and other professional figures of the Institute, in compliance with the guidelines, protocols, and the concept of care of La Motta.
Main tasks
• ensure the surveillance, accompaniment, and nocturnal care of the Users;
• guarantee a serene and safe environment and intervene appropriately in the presence of particular needs or situations;
• respond to the emerging needs of the Users of a physical, affective, or relational nature;
• recognize and professionally address situations of agitation, discomfort, or problematic behavior, protecting the safety and well-being of the User, other Users, and staff;
• provide for the primary needs of the User and basic care provided within the scope of one's competencies;
• perform, upon delegation from the nursing staff, the healthcare interventions provided for and permitted by one's professional qualification;
• observe and document the progress of the night, any changes in behavior or health problems, and the interventions carried out;
• guarantee a correct transfer of information between the night service and the daytime service;
• apply the procedures provided for in case of urgency and emergency;
• contribute to the general safety of the Institute and promptly report any anomalies or malfunctions;
• collaborate with the nursing, educational staff and other professional figures involved in the care of the Users;
• participate in meetings, service meetings, and the training activities provided for by the function.
Profile and requirements
• AFC or recognized diploma in the socio-sanitary field, such as Care Assistant, Socio-sanitary Care Worker, Socio-sanitary Operator, or equivalent training;
• recognition and equivalence of the title in case the diploma was obtained abroad;
• professional experience in the healthcare and/or social field;
• experience in night work constitutes a preferential qualification;
• good physical resistance and psychic stability, considering that the function involves active wakefulness and 10-hour night shifts, also for several consecutive days;
• ability to recognize priorities and to adequately face situations of urgency or emergency;
• stress management skills, flexibility, and adaptation to institutional needs;
• good relational skills and sensitivity towards people with disabilities;
• ability to work autonomously and, at the same time, to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team;
• sense of responsibility, reliability, and ability to maintain a professional attitude even in complex situations;
• good spoken and written knowledge of the Italian language;
• basic computer knowledge and ability to use computerized documentation tools;
• willingness for continuous professional updating and training.
Working conditions
• predominantly nocturnal activity in an active wakefulness regime;
• indicative night shift schedule: from 21.00 to 07.00;
• work according to planning, including nights, weekends, and public holidays;
• workplace: Istituto socioterapeutico La Motta, Brissago;
• salary and working conditions according to the Collective Labour Agreement for personnel employed in social institutions in the Canton of Ticino, salary class 19. In addition: one week of vacation as compensation for night hours;
• entry into service starting from 01.01.2027 or date to be agreed;
