Head of Construction Department 100 %

The city of Sursee is constantly developing. As Head of Construction Department, you will actively help shape the structural future of our city. You will take responsibility for the sustainable development and preservation of value of our infrastructure and lead diverse projects from idea to implementation.

What you can achieve:

• You lead the Construction Department with its specialist areas of structural engineering, civil engineering, supply and disposal, as well as the municipal services department, in a technical, personnel, and strategic capacity.
• You are responsible for the planning, development, and realization of renovations and new constructions of municipal properties as well as municipal transport systems.
• You coordinate the structural and operational maintenance of the infrastructure, taking into account sustainability, economic efficiency, and preservation of value.
• You manage demanding construction projects, are responsible for public procurement, and participate in the preparation of the budget, task and financial plans, as well as multi-year programs, and coordinate municipal supply and disposal.
• You represent the city in specialist committees, commissions, and regional working groups.

What you bring with you:

• Higher professional education in the field of architecture, civil engineering, construction management, construction leadership, or a comparable qualification.
• Several years of practical experience in the planning and implementation of construction projects – ideally with responsibility for construction sites, construction management, or construction supervision.
• Leadership experience as well as enjoyment in promoting employees and achieving goals together.
• Networked way of thinking, strong communication skills and confident appearance, as well as political intuition and understanding of municipal decision-making processes.
• Organizational skills, willingness to make decisions, and interest in sustainable solutions for urban development.
