Senior EHS Expert - Risk Management & Technical Safety (f/m/d) Your Mission As Senior EHS Expert - Risk Management & Technical Safety, you will take on technical responsibility for risk management and technical safety at the Bern site. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Risk Management, Technical Safety, and Incident Investigation and accompany technical projects throughout their entire lifecycle. In doing so, you will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and EHS and drive the continuous further development of safety standards at the site. A key component of the role is the technical support and further development of EHS specialists as well as advising managers and project teams. Please apply particularly if you have already independently moderated and conducted risk analyses (e.g., HAZOP, Bow Tie, or FMEA), incident investigations, or technical safety assessments, and bring experience in the technical development and guidance of other specialists. This is not a classic EHS generalist role. We are looking for a personality with sound experience in Technical Safety, risk management, and the moderation of complex risk analyses. Main Tasks and Responsibilities Risk Management & Hazard Analysis • Moderation and implementation of risk analyses and hazard assessments (HAZOP, Bow Tie, FMEA, JSA) • Establishment and further development of the site-wide Risk Register • Development of risk mitigation strategies for processes, plants, and activities • Ensuring a consistent approach according to ISO 45001 and CSL Technical Standards Technical Safety & Incident Investigation • Implementation of technical safety assessments • Leading pSIF investigations and root cause analyses (ICAM, TapRooT®, RCA) • Definition and follow-up of sustainable preventive measures • Transferring Lessons Learned into standards, SOPs, and training Engineering & Projects • EHS support for construction, modernization, and plant projects • Participation in Design Reviews, HAZOPs, PSSR, Change Controls, and technical acceptances • Ensuring compliance with global Technical Standards • Technical coordination of EHS activities in the project environment Coaching & Stakeholder Management • Technical support and mentoring of EHS specialists • Advising managers and project teams on technical risks • Moderation of workshops and risk-based decision-making processes • Promotion of a sustainable safety and risk culture Compliance & Management System • Ensuring compliance with ISO 45001, Swiss legislation, and CSL Standards • Further development of processes, standards, and work instructions • Support with audits, inspections, and authority contacts Requirements & Qualifications Experience • 5 to 8 years of relevant professional experience in Technical Safety, Process Safety, Risk Engineering, or EHS in a technically demanding environment • Demonstrable experience in moderating risk analyses and hazard assessments • Experience in incident investigations and root cause methods • Experience in accompanying technical projects • Experience in coaching, mentoring, or the technical guidance of specialists Technical Qualifications • Degree in Safety Engineering, Engineering, Chemistry, Process Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a comparable field of study • Sound knowledge of: • ISO 45001 • Risk Management • Technical Safety • Machinery and plant safety • Hazardous substance management Personal Competencies • Strong communication and moderation skills • Ability to communicate complex technical risks in an understandable way • Proactive, structured, and solution-oriented way of working • Confident appearance towards specialists, managers, and project teams Languages • German: business fluent • English: very good skills in speaking and writing CSL Behring is a global biotherapeutics leader driven by our promise to save lives.
