We are seeking a candidate who is available to work 80% of a full-time schedule.

Profile summary

This Process Engineer supports manufacturing and production improvement projects in the area of Industry 4.0 for the Hägendorf, Balsthal and Tuttlingen production sites. Including system implementation, process improvement, machinery & equipment data acquisition, continuous improvement and other duties associated with engineering support of production. The role sits within the Master Data pillar of the Engineering Department, as part of the Digital Manufacturing team, and provides a broad range of manufacturing and production project opportunities to help shape the Factory of the Future.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Configure and implement the MES product portfolio, including intake files, master data, recipes, workflows, and test work orders, to support a smooth production go-live and enable connected manufacturing, real-time data visibility, advanced analytics, and predictive, adaptive processes.
  • Support the transition from BabtecQ CAQ to Critical Manufacturing CAQ and contribute to related system and process changes.
  • Support master data preparation, cleansing, migration, and verification activities related to MES, CAQ.
  • Provide MES shopfloor and post-go-live support, including hypercare, user guidance, issue escalation, operator feedback follow-up and production coordination.
  • Maintain compliance and business continuity by troubleshooting CM MES issues and deviations, performing root cause analysis, supporting system recovery, defining workarounds, and escalating when needed.
  • Drive MES-related procedure updates and support user engagement through training materials, hands-on coaching, knowledge transfer, and competency assessments.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Planning, and IT to align MES activities with production and business needs.
  • Use MES, Industry 4.0 solutions, and data-driven methods to monitor, analyze, and improve medical device manufacturing and production processes.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities, implement new digital technologies, and acquire data from manufacturing systems such as CNC machines, finishing equipment, and heat treatment systems.
  • Support engineering projects by planning and executing activities, tracking progress and costs, preparing status reports, maintaining documentation, and meeting agreed goals and timelines.

Qualifications and knowledge requirements:

  • Engineering degree (FH/University, Bachelor-s or Master-s), preferably in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing / Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation / Mechatronics, Process Engineering, Business Information Systems / Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • 0 to 5 years of experience in a regulated industry, such as medical devices, combined with a strong affinity for data and data analysis.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing technologies and processes such as turning, milling, drilling, grinding, erosion, heat treatment, cleaning, shot peening, bead blasting, electropolishing, passivation, plastic injection molding, and laser marking.
  • Good IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, with experience in digital tools, business applications, manufacturing systems, and ERP, MES, PLM, or CAQ systems such as SAP, Critical Manufacturing, Agile, Windchill, or BabtecQ.
  • Experience in MES implementation projects, including design, configuration, testing, deployment, and support, is an advantage.
  • Fluent business communication in English and German.
