Head of Developments and Strategic Planning Permanent position Tiefbauamt We shape Zurich from the ground up: livable and climate-neutral. We are looking for a Head of the Developments and Strategic Planning department as of 1 October 2026 or by arrangement. Tasks You will lead the Developments and Strategic Planning department personally, organizationally, and professionally with 5–7 employees and continuously develop it. As a member of the Transport and Urban Space management team, you will develop the multi-year planning, prioritize ongoing tasks, topics, and projects, and further develop the professional stance of the division. With your employees, you will analyze social, technological, and spatial developments and derive the need for action in the areas of urban space, mobility, and transport. With your employees, you will coordinate the implementation of the Urban Space and Mobility Strategy 2040, review its impact, and ensure the necessary foundations and analyses. You will create the strategic planning prerequisites for the implementation of the Urban Space and Mobility Strategy 2040, prioritize planning and projects (incl. agglomeration program), coordinate with the Confederation, Canton, and neighboring municipalities, and represent the strategy and the interests of the Tiefbauamt in various committees. Profile Completed university degree in the field of spatial, mobility, and urban planning, geography, or comparable training Several years of leadership experience as well as experience in integral urban, transport, and urban space planning Leadership strength, flexible and independent way of working, as well as capacity for cooperation and conflict resolution Independent, structured, and analytical way of working with a desire to shape and performance orientation Proficient German in speaking and writing, strong teamwork and communication skills, as well as enjoyment in working with politics and different interest groups We offer The opportunity to help shape the future of the largest city.
