Veterinarian Equine Career Entry Bern

Those who want to specialize in equine medicine will find the appropriate framework at a university referral clinic for horses in Bern and Avenches. Between 1 January and 1 June 2027, we are filling Internship and FVH-Residency positions with a workload of 100 % (temporary). You will work at an Institute for Equine Medicine with around 55 employees, a referral clinic in Bern, and a clinic with a fitness and rehabilitation station and reproduction center in Avenches.

What to expect in this responsible task

• You will care for horses and other equids in a university referral clinic under the supervision of experienced specialists
• During the internship, you will rotate through the clinical areas of equine medicine and gain broad practical experience
• In the FVH-Residency, you will deepen your specialization with a significant equine component
• You will participate in clinic operations, diagnostics, and patient care at the Bern and Avenches locations

What you bring with you

• For the internship: completed veterinary studies starting from the state examination; applicants with already collected professional experience as a practicing veterinarian cannot be considered for the internship position
• For the FVH position: completed veterinary studies and at least one year of assistantship with a significant equine component
• Desired language skills: German, French, and English
