The Schulamt is the competence center of the public kindergarten and school system. In the Kollektivunterkunft (KU) Tiefenau in Bern, the city's Schulamt, on behalf of the canton, runs a school with six "reception classes" (various cycles, multi-grade classes) for refugee children and adolescents from kindergarten to 9th grade, who live in the KU and are being prepared for transition into the regular school system. The classes consist of 8 to max. 12 students, whereby regular departures or new entries may occur. It is a dynamic environment in which structure and stability are provided to the recently arrived children - in their life situation fraught with great uncertainty - through a good teaching climate. The current school management workload is limited until July 31, 2027, and is re-approved annually on the basis of student numbers. Tasks & Profile What you move • Leadership and further development of a committed, culturally diverse staff of teachers, class assistants and school secretariat • Holistic operational leadership of the school in organizational, personnel, administrative and pedagogical matters as well as strategic further development in coordination with the Schulamt and the AKVB • Design of parental work and support of the students during their successful integration into the Bernese school system, in close cooperation with the teachers and the receiving schools • Active networking and coordination with the operation of the Kollektivunterkunft, municipal and cantonal authorities as well as other involved bodies • Co-design and further development of teaching and school quality together with the staff and the pedagogical management What you bring • Completed school management training or willingness to complete it; professional experience as a teacher or in the pedagogical field as well as knowledge of the asylum and public school system of the Canton of Bern • Distinct flexibility, resilience and leadership competence as well as enjoyment of an extremely dynamic working environment • Structured and forward-looking way of working, combined with pragmatism, creativity and intuition • Communicative personality with empathy, humor and teamwork skills • Enjoyment of working in a small, familial staff as well as direct contact with students and legal guardians of different origins • Sound English skills are an advantage Your benefits in Bern For meaning & city life With us, you change something.
