Your tasks

• You bear overall responsibility for a high-quality Volksschule Stadt Luzern.
• You lead the six-member executive management of the Volksschule Stadt Luzern and are simultaneously a member of the executive management of the Bildungsdirektion.
• You lead the rectorate of the Volksschule with nine directly subordinate employees.
• You are responsible for the strategic goals and the performance mandate of the Volksschule with a global budget of over 125 million Franken.
• You represent the overall interests of the Volksschule and maintain active networking with bodies of the Stadt and the Kanton Luzern as well as with other cities in Switzerland. In doing so, you participate in various working groups and committees.
• You develop the Volksschule further in a future-oriented manner together with the leadership team and set impulses for innovative school and organizational development.

Your profile

• You are a dedicated and convincing leadership personality with a degree from a pedagogical university or university of applied sciences or an equivalent education.
• You are interested in educational policy issues and the design of the service public in the field of education.
• You know the internal administrative processes and have a good sense of political contexts and decision-making processes.
• You think ahead, develop visionary ideas, and want to actively help shape the Volksschule.
• You have proven experience in project and change management and move confidently in change processes.
• You recognize the opportunities of digital transformation and help shape them in a future-oriented manner.
• You communicate clearly, transparently, and appropriately to the target group.

The Volksschule of the Stadt Luzern with around 1500 employees educates and promotes children aged 4 to 16 according to their abilities and inclinations. 19 school operating units are distributed across the various quarters of the city. The diverse Volksschule offering includes kindergartens, basic levels, primary and secondary schools, school services, and day structure offers. During the school year, 6'700 students are taught.

Over 2000 employees, 1200 teachers and over 60 learners in 12 professions: The Stadt Luzern is one of the largest employers in the region – and at the same time approachable and sympathetic.
